UNITED NATIONS, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- The UN Security Council on Monday adopted a presidential statement marking the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement, which ended the 1992-1995 Bosnian War.

In the statement, the Security Council reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) within its internationally recognized borders.

The council acknowledges the sustained peace and stability achieved in BiH since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement and emphasizes the need to resolve differences through dialogue and consensus.

It calls on all leaders, at all levels of government, to refrain from divisive rhetoric or actions, to avoid confrontation, to respect the rule of law and to uphold the Dayton Peace Agreement.

The council also stresses the need to advance reconciliation, foster trust among communities, and promote social cohesion as essential elements of a resilient and democratic BiH.

It reaffirms that the shared goal remains a stable democratic and sovereign state with full responsibility over its political and economic processes.

The council emphasizes its unity in supporting a sovereign, democratic, and multi-ethnic BiH and welcomes efforts aimed at strengthening cooperation and good-neighborly relations in the region. ■
