RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- Uruguay international defender Jose Luis "Pumita" Rodriguez has agreed to a two-year contract extension with Vasco da Gama, the Brazilian Serie A side said on Monday.

The 28-year-old, whose previous deal had been due to expire this week, will now be tied to Vasco until the end of 2027, with the option of another year.

Rodriguez has made 120 appearances across all competitions for Vasco following his 2023 move from Uruguay's Nacional.

He was a regular starter in the Vasco team that reached this year's Copa do Brasil final and finished 14th in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings.

The right back has been capped five times for Uruguay since his international debut in 2023. ■
